Isolated Astronaut in Space Has Advice on Social Distancing
There is nothing like a great analogy, example, or personal story to help communicators launch their messages during a presentation or interview.
During an interview from the International Space Station with Stephen Colbert, astronaut Jessica Meir offered guidance to everyone coping with pandemic social distancing by comparing it to her own isolation in orbit. Meir described her seven months of isolation in space, the ultimate in social distancing, and used her experience to offer some timely advice on dealing with the Coronavirus.
Meir managed to be warm, engaging, and genuine as she delivered her message while floating in zero gravity. Shortly after this interview, Meir left her isolation in space, safely returned home and now has both feet on the ground, social distancing with the rest of us here on Earth.
