It is every communicator’s desire to deliver a memorable statement that dominates water cooler chat the next day. With passion and authority, Premier Brian Pallister of Manitoba, Canada accomplished that by pushing COVID-19 restrictions during the holidays. His blunt, no-holds-barred, statement isn’t full of Christmas cheer. And, he makes it clear that he’s in no mood to celebrate the holiday spirit:
To be sure, we’re not crazy about Pallister calling COVID-deniers “idiots” during the holiday season or any other time of the year. Pallister has many constituents who oppose his position. But we applaud his passion and clear, unmistakable desire to deliver an unpopular message. Critics will call him “the Grinch.” Even so, Pallister believes that “stealing Christmas” is a holiday gift that will save lives.
